About the station
Łódź Fabryczna, in the city centre, is one of the most modern and largest railway stations in Poland. Its history dates back to the early 20th century, when it was built as part of the city’s growing textile industry; the original structure was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt in the socialist-realist style.
A major reconstruction began in 2011. The new, underground station opened in December 2016 - with a futuristic design, deep platforms and extensive retail and service facilities.
It is an important transport hub linking Łódź with other large Polish cities and part of a planned high-speed rail line.
