About the Stefan Jaracz Theatre
The Stefan Jaracz Theatre is one of the most important and oldest theatre institutions in Poland, in the heart of Łódź. Its beginnings go back to the late 19th century - in 1888 the city’s first permanent professional theatre opened here.
It is named after Stefan Jaracz, an outstanding Polish actor and director. Its repertoire spans both dramatic classics and contemporary theatre. It is a multi-stage institution, with a Main, Small and Chamber stage.
Alongside its repertoire, the theatre is engaged in education and the development of young talent: it cooperates with the Academy of Theatre Arts and holds workshops and author meetings.
